Co-founder Gianluca Pereyra tells us about Visor.ai’s aspirations for Data Pitch and beyond.

Describe your Data Pitch challenge idea

Visor.ai proposes the development and implementation of a Chatbot service to companies that deliver Hop-on Hop-off bus tours around tourist destinations. The intelligent Chatbot, located on either the client’s website or Facebook Messenger, will help tourists get answers to the most frequently asked questions about tours. They will be able to find out where buses are in real-time and receive location information (including an option to purchase e-tickets for attractions), while the companies improve customer support.

What does the idea set out to achieve?

This solution aims to support Hop-on Hop-off companies by helping them deliver a better service, automate customer support and reduce their workload.

What makes your idea different or unique?

Our solution differs from the ones delivered by business to consumer companies because our revenue model is not directly dependent on user acquisition and their number. It also differs from other business to business companies because they apply a custom developed, not scalable, solution. We are providing our solution within a channel that tourists already use (Facebook Messenger) rather than within new custom apps that have a low number of downloads.

Where did the idea come from?

The idea came after working with different companies whilst delivering solutions using Artifical Intelligence and Chatbots. We noted that Hop-on Hop-off companies deal with a huge number of complaints based on the fact that tourists are often unaware of the locations of the buses. With our solution the number of complaints received will be fewer because the expectations of the tourists will be better met.

What excites you about the challenge you applied for?

The best thing about the Data Pitch challenge is being able to build and see the results of our project using different data sets. We have confirmation from different companies that deliver Hop-on Hop-off tours that they have this problem and we are looking to develop a solution for them. Getting financial help from the DataPitch program allows us focus on this subject and grow a business from it.

How did your team meet?

We all met when we were 5 years old. We grew up in the same city, went to school together, played sports together and support the same football club. It was only when we went to university that we followed different courses but we always remained close, even after our experiences abroad and working in different companies.

What’s the best thing about working with data?

The best thing about working with data, is that data allows you to take on decisions with far more information on your side. This is very helpful when building and growing a business.

Anything else you want to tell us about your startup and why you do what you do?

We all have experience working in different companies (e.g. KPMG, Deloitte and Barclays) and in various countries (e.g. Portugal, Spain, Poland, UK and Angola) before starting our adventure. We set out to do what we do because we believe that we can achieve great results working as a team. We have proved it by delivering results to our current clients but also by overcoming challenges that arise within startups.
